New Year Message from the Dean, UGMS

December 24, 2025

Dear Faculty Members, Staff and Students,

As we welcome the New Year 2026, I extend my warmest greetings to the entire UGMS community. The year gone by has been one of steady progress, collaboration, and commitment to excellence and research and I sincerely thank each one of you for your dedication and hard work.

I am pleased to share that in 2025 UGMS has made significant academic strides, most notably the introduction of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) into our curriculum. This learner-centered approach is an important step toward strengthening critical thinking, clinical reasoning, better understanding and knowledge retention.

Our faculty continue to bring distinction to the institution through their scholarly contributions. I am proud to say that faculty publications have crossed 200,showing a strong culture of research, innovation and academic excellence at UGMS.

As we enter 2026, our focus will be on streamlining key academic and administrative processes to enhance efficiency and support for teaching, learning, and research.

The year ahead holds great promise. With your continued cooperation and enthusiasm, I am confident that UGMS will reach new milestones and continue to uphold and align with the University of Ghana’s vision to be a World Class research-intensive University.

I wish you and your families a healthy, successful and fulfilling New Year.

Warm regards,

d1
