Class of 1987 Renovates TV and Reading Rooms of the Students’ Hostel
The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) Class of 1987 organized their homecoming this October, 2017. As part of their activities, the Class renovated and furnished the TV and Reading rooms at the Students’ Hostel worth US$40,000. The Class also visited the Clinical Departments to acquaint themselves with the departmental activities.
The official handing over ceremony led by Dr. Dora Akwetteh was held on Thursday, October 5, 2017. She shared her excitement on the level of enthusiasm and commitment with which the Class contributed their resources for the project.
The Class of 1987 promised to collaborate with other alumni of the School to promote development and also continue to be ambassadors of the School to the world.
The ceremony was graced by Dean, School Administrator, School Accountant, Hostel Tutor, Faculty Members and University of Ghana Medical Students’ Association (UGMSA) Executives.The Dean of School of Medicine and Dentistry, Prof. Margaret Lartey, welcomed the Class of 1987. She expressed her profound gratitude to the Class for their thoughtfulness and support in improving teaching, learning and research. She admonish other alumni to also take active interest in their alma mater after graduation.
Speaking at the function, the UGMSA President, Mr. Kwabena Oppong Amoako applauded the Class of 1987 and pledge to join the alumni in supporting the School after graduation.
Rev. Francis Quarm dedicated the facilities to God and used the occasion to appeal to other Class groups to emulate the example of Class of 1987 in supporting of the School.
After inspection of the physical facilities, the Vice President of UGMSA, Mr. Samuel Adjei, on behalf of the Students and Management thanked the Class of 1987 for putting up the needed infrastructure to promote academic and social work. He pledge on behalf of students to take good care of the facilities for the benefit of future generations.
